What is MyMedicare?

My medicare is a new voluntary govenrment initiative aimed at strengthing relationships between patients, their GP, allied health practitioners and other members of a care team.

Why sign up for MyMedicare?

Registering for MyMedicare helps strengthen your ongoing relationship with your GP and care team.

Seeing the same doctor over time is associated with better health outcomes, more personalised care, and a clearer understanding of your health needs.

By registering your preferred practice, MyMedicare supports more consistent, coordinated care — particularly for people with ongoing or complex health needs.

It also enables access to certain Medicare-funded services and may support longer or more tailored appointments where appropriate.

Why it matters

General practice is evolving, and programs like MyMedicare are part of how care is being structured and funded in Australia.

Registering helps ensure you remain connected to your regular GP and can continue to access care in a more supported and consistent way.
