If you are a patient at Inner North who is changing to a different medicinal cannabis provider, you may be asked to provide a letter confirming that you are no longer receiving treatment from your previous prescriber.
Please note, this request is not required to begin treatment with a new doctor.
At Inner North Medical Clinic, our doctors are authorised under the TGA’s Authorised Prescriber scheme. This means we do not use patient-specific permits, and there is no need for a formal notification or letter of cessation when changing prescribers.
Requests for such letters are often based on misunderstandings of the prescribing system or reflect practices we consider unnecessary and potentially misleading. If you’ve been told a cessation letter is required to access a new provider, please be aware that this is incorrect.
However, if you still wish to obtain a letter, this can be done with one of our prescribing cannabis doctors, however it will require an appointment.
